Certain windows won't completely open in IE....

When you click on a link, try to open a document on the web, or try to open a new window, the window never completely opens. You see the frame of the window, but you can see through the center of it and all you get is an hour glass. In short, it hangs. We've tried reinstalling IE, checking the system for viruses and/or spyware, repairing active x, changing security settings, etc. So far, nothing's worked. The computer in question is running Windows NT (problem #1 if you ask me :)) and IE 6. Does anyone have any ideas? Apparently, I'm the sixth tech to work on this issue- and I intend to be the last. :) Any help you can give me would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance,

Check the links within this thread (most still apply with NT):

I also forgot to mention: we used to be able to get it to work by clicking on the "stop" button and then refreshing the screen. Now that doesn't work either.

Don't know if you've already solved this one or not, but here's my $.02

First, have you reloaded sp6a? Critical updates? Is the drive running out of room?

Sometimes the more complex seeming problems end up having basic solutions. I learned that one when a logon error ended up being a burned out capslock indicator. [smile]

Hi Jbrackett- I appreciate the input! I know what you mean about basic solutions- I've definitely been burned by a few of those in the past! (LOL) I wish I could say it was something that easy, but we've covered all the bases you mentioned (well, except for the caps lock indicator ;-)). Also, while working on the machine I noticed some peculiar problems in other areas of the OS as well, all pointing to instability in the system. I don't know what happened to this computer, but the only way it looks like I'm going to be able to fix it is to fdisk and rebuild it. I don't like to do that unless I absolutely have to, but there are just too many weird things going on with it to justify the time it would take to fix it.
