Hi,
Just recently certain websites have stopped loading on my laptop, I have plugged another laptop into my router and everything loads just fine on it. Two websites that do not load on my laptop are and I have tried different browsers and experience the same problem. I have just rebuilt my whole laptop with just the minimum software running on it and I am still haveing a problem. Some of the sites that don't load I am able to Ping whilst others I cannot even ping, there seems to be no consistency. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Thank you.

By the way I have checked that it is not a DNS issue by flushing the DNS cache.

I have checked the security settings through Internet options.

I have checked the Hosts file.

Still no joy :-(

Yes I have installed Java. I am going to reformat my machine again as I need to try some other things, I will inform you of my progress. Thanks.

Two other thoughts:

. MTU value. If using ADSL the MTU value needs to be reset from its default of 1500 to something else. With the exception of AOL, set it to 1492.

. Your Winsock stack may have issue.
With XP Service Pack 2:

Start, Run, CMD
netsh winsock reset

Wait for the prompt to restart your computer. Reboot and test.

Hi bcastner,

thank you very much for your help. I finally found out what the problem was, there was a problem on the firmware of my linksys router - apparently quite a common problem with the linksys wag200g model. The solution was to upgrade to the latest version of the firmware and that has fixed the problem. Thanks again.
