I'm just trying to get opinions on a new server I'm spec'ing out. This is going to be a Dell PE1800 that will be our Exchange box. What's flooring me is the price difference between SATA RAID setup and SCSI RAID setup. Identically equipped servers, other than one using SATA RAID and the other using SCSI RAID, are $1100.00 apart. The PERC4 SCSI box being $1100.00 more than its CERC SATA 6 equivalent. Is the SCSI box that much better of a setup? This is for an Exchange box with only 20 users, so there's not that much traffic... Thanks for your opinions, and any information you can provide.

Scsi will proform better on a highly utilize server. Scsi drives have a higher mean time before failure, are higher quaility drives, thus the added cost. If this server was a primary use server or a server with SQL I would rcommend the scsi but this would be overkill for a low use Exchange server.
