Would like to hear from anyone who has used Adobe Illustrator for designing ceramic decorative tiles.

Do you use the program now as the primary software in your design work?

I use a pencil as my primary design, but almost everything except a hand painted piece goes through AI for one reason or another. There's is not a production process out there that cant benefit from Illustrator. If you wondering about getting your hand drawn line work into a AI. Scan it, put it on a layer by itself and lock that layer. Then create a new layer trace your drawing. NOTE: You can ctrl+click on the eyeball for each layer to turn them into wireframe mode individually. That you only have to see your line work until your ready to color and the placed scan will remain locked and visible the whole time.
