I have been asked by my VP to let her know what is the normal and what is abnormal CCS for trunk groups. As much as I can find on my own is only what the definition of "CCS" (Centrum Call Seconds) is. I know its a unit of measurement for trunk usage in seconds but I don't know what would be a normal amount or what is an alarming number that I need to make myself aware of in order to look out for it. Does anyone have any guesses or know already what "normal or abnormal" would equal? Thank you for any help that you may offer.
 
Every 100 seconds that a trunk is in use is a CCS. Centum (as in 100, not CENTRUM as in a vitamin). What is "normal" depends on your business. You normally use trunking measurements to determine how many trunks you need based on volume. There are several books and freeware calculators on the net which can help you determine how many trunks you need (based on CCS) vs how many you have. Keep in mind seasonal changes for your business before you go ripping "extra" trunks out. i.e. an accounting firm should not use September's data to determine how many trunks they need April 12th!. Do a search on the net for CCS or earlang to find calculations. Earlangs = CCS/36. -CL
 
CCS = (# of hourly calls x avg hold time in seconds) / 100 -CL
 
Thank you Lopes1211! Centum is what I meant. Thanks for catching that too. LOL That is pretty much what I was thinking going by the info I have found. I will go check it out with earlang calculations as well. I appreciate the help!
 
Not to be too much of stickler on the mis-spelling bee but you'll have better luck finding an erlang calculator than an earlang one. Everything else hear is looking grate.
 
I'm just happy that is all I mispelled. I should pay more attention to it or actually use the preview feature first. Sorry, I'll go spend some time studying my spelling for the Vocabulary Test. ;-} Thank you for the help.
