I installed a BEFW11S4 wireless router in my apartment. It's a wireless access pointer router with 4-port switch (802.11b). I connected one desktop to it, and I am trying to connect my centrino laptop to the network. The problem is that when the encryption option is disabled, everything is ok. But, when the encryption(WEP) is enabled, the centrino always detects the network, but can't always access the internet...Which is very weird! Any explanation will be very appreciated.

. disable 802.1x authentication on the Centrino adapter. You do not have Radius or other 802.1x servers in your setting;

. If using ASCII keys for WEP, they are case sensitive;

. Pick the lowest common denominator for WEP keys. If your Centrino supports 128-bit WEP (104 bits) you need to enter 13 identical ASCII keys on both router and adapter; if 64-bit WEP (40 bits) you enter 5 identical ASCII keys on both router and adapter.

. Remove the WPA Hotfix from the laptop, as your router does not support WPA encryption service. Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, the Hotfix is Q815485
