Centrex transfer using short code from reception phone

We have a site where the receptionist wants to basically flash, get 2nd CO dial tone, dial the cell phone for her boss, and then hangup.

She has Centrex transfer, can press the hookswitch button, get the CO dial tone, dial 1-555-555-5555 and after hearing the first ring, hang up. That works fine.

I built a shortcode 600 as follows:

Code: 600
Feature: Flash Hook
Tel number: 15555555555
Line Group: 0 (their default)

She presses TRANSFER then 600 and the flash occurs, the number dials, but the call is blinking on hold at her phone regardless of her pressing TRANSFER again or hanging up to cut the call loose. In a perfect world, this would be all in the CO at this point and off the system completely since its centrex.

Like I said, works fine if she presses Flash, and manually dials 1555-555-5555 and hangs up after the ring. The question is how to simplify it so she doesn't have to manually dial the whole thing or tab between pages for an auto dial to that number. in addition, there could be another 15 or so to add, so a shortcode is the preferred way.

I think I need help on setting the short code correctly. Or, perhaps some other features like trunk to trunk transfer, but I am thinking since I am not bridging two system lines, this shouldn't matter????

Thanks

Sounds like you don't have all Centrex lines and possibly your short code is just grabbing the first available line. try setting up a line group 1 with just the centrex line and try again.

Let me know

Yes, they all have Centrex, but the more I think about it, why wouldn't it put it on hold. At that point, the system could be expecting me to put an extension number in as well.

Since my original post, I have found that pressing TRANSFER then 600 does put the original call on hold, but if you pick it back up, you can hear the IPO finishing the dialing sequence to the outside number and once the 1st ring starts you can hang up, the call disappears off the phone system and the two parties connect fine.

instead of line group 0 I may use ARS50 instead and play around with 9 instead. maybe this will tell the system it's an outside call. If not, they seem ok with just taking it back off hold and hanging up during the first ring to cut the call through.

Thanks!

I recommend looking up Centrex Transfer in the IP Office Manager Help document. The short code is meant to be used for analog phones and auto attendant assisted transfer actions.

From the help document:
· Centrex Transfer Button Operation
The action Flash Hook (Advanced | Miscellaneous | Flash Hook) can be assigned to programmable buttons on DS and IP phones. This button can be configured with or without a telephone number for an automatic or manual transfer respectively.

· Manual Transfer
If the programmable button is setup as a Flash Hook button without a target telephone number, pressing the button returns dial tone to the user. They can then dial the required transfer number and when they hear ringing or an answer, hang up to complete the Centrex Transfer.

· Automatic Transfer
If the programmable button is setup as a Flash Hook button with a target telephone number, pressing the button performs the Centrex Transfer to the numbers as a single action.

Thanks Red, The 3rd choice is ideal, except as mentioned in the 1st post, there "could" potentially be 15 of these people for the receptionist to deal with. We could do an adjunct if it comes to that.

Also, another similar item, but not exactly related to this original question came up with respect to pressing 2 to breakout of a personal greeting and to do a centrex transfer. its VM PRO in intuit mode. So for example, under user 110 if his dial 2 breakout action is shortcode 600, will that work? Or, should we do a dial string right in there, but what is the string to look like? It would have to be flash, pause, the cell number I am guessing. What's flash in a VM Pro breakout under the user tab for voicemail. i.e. to transfer to my cell, press 2 (flash pause dial cell, release) again, they have centrex.

Thanks, but maybe we should do the original question first ! !
