We have a Northstar and are switching to CENTREX trunks
is there away to bury the 9 digit that the carrier wants
to see so they only have to dial 9 (ars) from intercom for the A pool group .....

Also we have to assign pool keys on some phones so they can use the 4 digit dialing between other sites with Centrex
lines (different system at the other ends)

PA,
What version of system do you have?

PhM

You should set up a route (1) to dial out a 9 on pool A and set up a destination code 9 to go out on route 1 absorb 1 digit. when the customer dials a number such as 912345678 the destination code will strip the 9 and deliver 12345678 to the route, the route will insert a 9 then deliver 12345678 to the centrex trunk.

one cautionary note is that when you are using destination codes you may not get dialtone after dialing 9 so do not be suprised.

I wiil give it a try once I get back onsite ...

also u can see if your local telco can just make ur lines classic centrex.. in most places I have worked with classic centrex does not require the dial 9 access so KSU programming is back to normal

but u can also just use ur routing and if all u have is a Pool a for exapmle and u want all outgoing calls to use pool a use the existing route just build the destination tables and in building the tables u can tell the KSU to absorb the leadin 9 and just look at the other 9

but the customer till has to dial 99+#

hmmm i just looked up and seen Jerry beat me to the punch so i'll just shut up now .. lol ..
If ya need any more help i'll try to be faster next time

Only Dial 9 Once with Centrex Lines
To use the route and destination code to hide the 9 of Centrex , so that the customer only has to dial one 9 to get out.

To Build a Route
Services – Show
Ringing Service – Next to
Routing Service – Show
Routes – Show
Show Route: 001 – Show
Dialout: 9 or whatever your Centrex code is – Next
Use: pool A – Change to pool B (we'll change it back in a minute)
DN Type: Public

To Build Destination Codes:
Routing Service – Show
Routes – Next
Dest Codes – Show
Show destcode: (enter code) - Next
DstCode: (enter code) – Show
Normal: 000 – Change to route built 001 – Show
AbsorbLength: ALL

Then go back into the Route and change it to use Pool A. For some reason the Norstar doesn't like it when you don't change it from the default pool A, build the dest code, then change it back to pool A. When you try to build the dest code it will say, "route undefined".

Then the customer will only have to dial one 9 to get outside dial tone.

Good Luck!!

Do you need to be able to have the customer dial other centrex numbers within the group? such as another office in town but at another address. If you do then you may need to set up more tables and destinations to allow that type dialing.

Yes thats the whole idea why they are switching to Centrex ...for the 4 digit dialing between sites mostly
so we do have to set up some others ??...or can we just
assign a "pool" (F64 9) key were its dials the 9 (access to
Pool A) and they then dial the 4 digits of the centrex site they want to reach within their allowed calling area ...

Executone:
would this be how it should be done ?

To Build Destination Codes:
Routing Service – Show
Routes – Next
Dest Codes – Show
Show destcode: (1) - Next
DstCode: (9) – Show
Normal: 000 – Change to route built 001 – Show
AbsorbLength: ALL (delete 1 as Jerry had posted above ???)

Thanks for the posts .....
mostly work on Avaya but do have a few customers
that are real HAPPY with the Northstar product line

You will need to setup two codes. Example: Dial 9 to dial local/long distance, and dial 8 for centrex calls.

Good Luck!!

can you give us some info on your numbering plan? specifically
What is the dialing range of your centrex lines, ie 4001-4019?
what is the range of your extensions on the MICS?
what are your local office codes, the 555 of 555-1234?
from this info you can set up a dialing plan.

EXT# range is default 221 for operator and so on ..

area code is 617

not sure of the other sites as of yet because they are
going to be changed after the main office does .....

Actually was wondering about office codes not area codes.
what would have to be built in routing would be somewhat along the line of

Route 9 absorb 1 routing to destination 1:
destination 1 to pool A insert "9"

Route 8 absorb 1 routing to destination 2:
Destination 2 to pool A

now you would dial 9 to get regular outside lines and send a 9 out to get out of the centrex system followed by the rest of the dialed number.

: dialing 916175551234 would by absorbing 1 digit "9" and inserting 1 digit "9" would deliver 916175551234 to the CO Centrex :

you would dial 8 to get a centrex line sending the rest of the dialed number to select the centrex extension.

: dialing 84001 would absorb 1 digit "8" and deliver 4001 to the centrex line to connect you to centrex extension 4001:
