Hey all,

Just bought myself some 5.1 speakers, and had them working fine last night on my PC, then I decided to cart them into the lounge to watch a DVD. After trying to reconnect them up to the PC in the same method, I cannot get any sound from the centre speaker.

I have a Leadtek WinFast K7ncr18G motherboard, which has nForce2 with 5.1 AC97 audio. Now in my manual, it says this...........

Mic: The output of surround mode and bass.
Line In: The output of the front speakers.
Line Out: The output of the centre speaker.

My speakers have 3 cables, labelled centre, front, and rear, going from sub to PC.

I've tried all possible combinations of leads versus sockets, and can get the centre speaker working from another socket, but that leaves me without a different speaker. So this led me to believe that the microphone socket had somehow become faulty in the last 12 hours, but this is not the case, and this is where it get's interesting............

Ran Dxdiag, and went to the sound page, ran the sound tests, and in some of the tests the centre speaker (connected to the mic socket) actually worked, but in others didn't???? there doesn't seem to be any pattern in mono/stereo and different bit rates, but I can look at it again and tell you exactly which tests it plays on, and those it doesn't, if you need the extra info.

So I reinstalled Directx 9.0b and also my mobo drivers, neither have resulted in any change.

I'm at my wits end, and hope someone can help me, apologies for such a long post..........

Many thanks.

Sorry, am running Windows Xp Pro, and have made the necessary adjustments to allow use of the mic and line-in sockets as speaker output............
