I am running ArservIT 6.61 on NT server.
I am building a test lab where I can simulate disaster recovery and restoring mailboxes. The test lab will be a mircocosm of the actual production network and in no way connected to the production network.
The backup server in the test lab cannot recognize DLT tapes from my production environment. I suspect the reason is the backup server doesn't have any of the data (groups, scratch set etc) from the production backup server.
Is it possible to use the Central Database feature in Arcserv to copy database information from the production backup server to a subordinate server, remove the subordinate from the production network, connect the sub to my test lab and simulate disaster recovery and restores in the test environment?
Will this effect the backup server on the production network in any way? Will the database remain in the production network so that the server will continue to recognize tapes in case I need to restore something?
