Hello, I am not sure if this is the right place to put this question. So please forgive me if I shouldn't ask the question here...

I am in a small/middle sized company with about 180 employees(full backup will be 1.4TB data). Currently we are using distributed backup strategy, which means I need to change 9 tapes a day. Recently we are thinking to implement some kind of central backup. Can anybody share some ideas what kind of software/hardware I should look for? What do you do in your company? We are using Arcserve backup software on each major server now. Thanks.

You could do a backup-to-disk/backup-to-tape strategy. Implement a backup server to which you backup everything to disk, then utilize a tape library and do a backup to tape from your backup server.

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.
It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

We use tapes as well as CPS from symantec on a raided storage setup. The CPS is for instant recovery and the tapes are for offsite DR situations

Thank you for your reply. I'll check the CPS with Symantec.
