I am a Nortel CS1000 tech without any Centigram experience. I am upgrading the Nortel CS1000 from rls 3.0 to rls 6.0. I am being told the Centigram rls 6.0 will not integrate to the Nortel CS1000 past rls 3.0. I am being told that the Centigram must be upgraded to the new Nupoint voicemail rls 4.0. Does anyone have any specific knowledge about this type of interoperability? I did post in the Nortel forum already but wanted to hear from the Mitel folks as well.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Just Guessing being an old Centigram Man.

Back in the day, the centigram integrated using set emulators. Sometimes this required a physical phone to be modified and integrated via serial cables.

I can't speak for the CS1000 version but the same generation of Mitel would have used SS4 sets (long since made obsolete).

Rel 6.0 Centigram dates back to 1995. Suffice it to say it is an good bet that the CS1000 has come a long way since then and the integration method necessary for the time , long since made obsolete.

The Nupoint 4.0 is new (within the last few months) and integrates in a number of ways (IP Prefered).

Based on the above, I would take the recommendation at face value.

thanks for the information, it is very helpful......I did get my hands on the vm_sysinfo report and it shows 7.0 (not 6.0). Do you think this changes anything?

Install Time: Sat Jan 29 08:01:13 PST 2005
NuPoint Messenger SL-1 Enhanced Meridian Release 7.0 (with RSD3) Rev A

Thanks again

Rel 7.0 does not make much of a difference. Rel 7.0 was the last release using the old hardware and software.

Mitel rebuilt everything from scratch for release 8.0 and have been adding IP functionality ever since.

Releases between include
8.0
9.0
11.0
12.0
renumbered 3.0
and now 4.0

Each load had SP loads as well.

Bottom line, still looking at believing the original recommendation.

My guess is that because of the integration, the old Nortel sets are no longer supported on the CS1000. The new set types are supported on an external device (called a PMG) that converts the desk set to IP.) The PMG is only supported on the IP version of the NuPoint thus, Nupoint RLS 4.0

Just my guess.
