Hi,

At present the max line speed for a cellphone(mobile phone) seems to be 9.6kB. Is this likely to increase in the near future?

I want to clients to be able to connect to a server using a laptop and cellphone(or pcmia card) to use terminal services; at 9.6kB it is hopeless. Anything over 28kB is usable.

Consider Wireless WiFi in the USA - Boingo and TMobile.

Cell phones are capable of 14.4, but signal compression and interference can ruin most any voice call, let alone more sensitive data transmission.

If I recall, Cingular or one of the other radio-based providers has a data solution that gets up towards 56K.

Make a few calls, you might be surprised.
