is it possible to have one worksheet cell list the name of a different worksheet tab name?

You could use the CELL formula:
=CELL("address",Sheet1!A1)

which would display
[BookName]Sheet1!$A$1

You could use the MID function to pull out the Sheet Name. But seeing as you need to reference the other sheet name in the formula, I really don't see a point in doing it.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

[tt]_____
[blue]-John[/blue][/tt]
[tab][red]The plural of anecdote is not data[/red]

Depending on what you are trying to do you could also use a Hyperlink (Ctrl-K or Insert, Hyperlink) That makes it easy to navigate to the other sheet.
