Cell reference in Excel

Hi just a quick question about being able to reference different cells.

Okay say I have various values in Cells A1-A500

Now I have a formula say in Cell B1.

Now here, depending on what I input in say Cell C1 I want the formula in B1 to reference a specific cell from Cells A1-A500.

Is there a way I can do that?

Can you give an example. I'm not sure that I understand the question.

SOund like the =index function will fit the bill. Check the Excel help topic and reply again with more details if you can't make it work.
