cell padding in the category tree

I am new to miva and this forum. I have version 4.13 and I am using images rather than text in my category tree, however I can't get rid of the 10px cell padding for the table. I have tried inserting html into the category tree header/footer, but it just places my table inside its 10px-padding-table.

I am thinking I may need OUI...I am still not exactly sure what it does. But does anyone have any suggestions?
