is there any way to include data from a cell on a spreadsheet in the page header or footer without using vba?

misterstick,

To answer your question, the answer(I believe) is no, not without VBA. But - there's always a but - you could use the 'Print Titles' option to print the same row of data at the top of each page. If you put the row at the top of your sheet with the data you want to include in your header, it would print immediately below your header. Not exactly what you wanted, but close.

Print row and column labels on every page
Click the worksheet.

On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Sheet tab.

To repeat column labels on every page, click Rows to repeat at top, and then enter the rows that contain the column labels.
To repeat row labels on every page, click Columns to repeat at left, and then enter the columns that contain the row labels.

Note Microsoft Excel prints repeating row and column labels only on the pages that include the labeled rows or columns. Pages for rows below the labeled rows or columns to the right of the labeled columns are printed without the repeating labels. How to print repeating labels for additional rows or columns.

thanks very much for this reply.

pretty much what i suspected, my user will have to work just a little harder.

i tried to mark this post as helpful but my firewall settings don't allow cached javascript, so the link doesn't work.

i'll see if i can get round it somehow.

thanks again,

mr s. <;)
