We have p570 made up of two CECs, and partitioned.
The resources for both CECs are shared across the partitions.

How do you determine which CEC belongs to which partition ?

thanks,

thanks for the reply.

Another question, this time HMC.

If a partition is up and running and I tick the - Required box - for that partition, do I need to reboot the partition ?
OR, is it better to shutdown the partition and then tick it and reboot ?

Whenever you change something in an LPAR's profile, you either have to to that change again via the DLPAR menu on the HMC to make that change visible to that LPAR or you have to shutdown/activate the LPAR.

Simply rebooting the LPAR has no effect, because it uses the LPAR-profile info from the last activation.

Required/Desired setting for an I/O slot can only be changed in the LPAR profile, not via DLPAR operation (I think), so in this case: shutdown/activate profile at next convenient maintenance timeslot.

What do you mean by ticking the required box? You have an adapter you want to add or that's already there and you want to change desired to required?

If you want to change desired to required that setting is an activation setting anyway, so you don't need to do anything else.

If you want to add an adapter then you need to add it dynamically as well or if un-supported, completely shut down the partition and re-start.
