Hi all,

We have been running CE90 on a standalong windows computer running IIS and Sql Server.

We now have 3 servers - 1 Web Server, 1 SQL Server, 1 CE.

Rather than worrying about importing and such, we are just doing a fresh install of CE90. Following the installation guide, I have successfully installed CE90 on the CE machine and the Web Server Component on the Web Server machine.

My question is...how do I now configure/install the APS to use the SQL Server on the 3rd machine rather than the default local MSDE ??????

Thanks in advance.

Jae.

If you have the hard-copy Admin Guide, look on page 224, or search for "Copying APS data from one database to another" in an electronic version. You will be using the Crystal Configuration Manager to stop the APS, select the APS, and click Specify APS Datasource. Follow the prompts or use the Guide to specify where you want your APS.

You can also select a machine during installation if you do a Custom install.

Thanks for the quick response.

The installation guide tells you not to change the APS initially during setup...which is why I did not do it the way you suggested. I uninstalled and re-installed using the custom install method and it seems to work.

Thanks again.

Yes, it's a strange instruction, especially if you don't want MSDE installed on the CE server.

Specify APS Datasource will also let you "move" that database around when the SQL Server machine is replaced or in maintenance.
