CE85 sending out invalid data to clients?

I have been having some clients come back to me this month as their reports were not received properly.

I had been doing maintenance on the reports in October, changing fields around and such so I had to resave a ton of reports. Now, when they sent out, the filters show the right information but the data on the reports is wrong. One report for example this morning was missing around 33% of it's data... another report had data spread on a few lines that should only be on one line, etc.

The only thing I can see is that I do not always add a new recurrence... will that screw it up? Everything else shows the correct information and I overwrite the file so why would the recurrence get corrupted instead of grabbing the new data?

Thanks in advance,
Phil

We'd need technical information.

It sounds like you may be updating reports, but not updating Crystal Enterprise, hard to say from your descriptive.

DO you mean that you're exporting reports and they don't reflect your changes?

From CR 8.5, you can open existing reports from CE 8.5 by using the Enterprise icon in the lower left corner of the Open dialog, and then save them back over the top of the current report.

You will need to set the database tab again, butu otherwise it will recognize the changes.

I've no idea what you mean by "Now, when they sent out, the filters show the right information but the data on the reports is wrong. " Do you mean the record selection formula is correct? Check the Database->Show SQL Query for reports to see what's being passed to the database.

If you change the underlying objects for a report, then you also need to open the report and select Database->SHow SQL Query.

If none of this helps, please state how you are saving reports, and the type of changes you are making.

Ok, basically, I open my report in CR8.5, I make a change (in this case, I changed a text field to show the unique identifier instead as that won't change while I might have to rename a group). I then save the report to Crystal Enterprise.

Now, in Crystal Enterprise I re-enter the password for the database as I overwrote what was there with the changes. When I say filter, I mean in Crystal Enterprise when you're in the report , you have a tab called Filters (it's under Process in Crystal Enterprise 10) and that is basically the record selection from the report. This record selection is identical to the one in Crystal report, but once the report runs (it's a recurring monthly report), the data was off in a way that made no sense.

The number was supposed to be around 219 but it came out as 149 which even before the change is not a possible result. I had other reports which gave me similar odd issues, one being that the data went :
Name Incidents Outstanding
Joe Frontline 20 2
Francie Manager 4 10
0 1

When it should be
Name Incidents Outstanding
Joe Frontline 20 2
Francie Manager 4 11

But, when I ran both reports in Crystal Report after opening them up from the Crystal Enterprise folder, they gave me correct results.

Hope this is a better explanation.

I don't want to bump an old thread, but the same thing happened to me. I went through in early November and rescheduled every single report. Yet this month I am modifying a report and noticed that the results that were sent out are NOT the same results that I receive running the report. Now that I think of it, this report is one of those that actually had the problem in November, argh...

The reports this time look identical, but the data is different...

Hi,
Did you delete the existing instance of the recurring report and re-schedule it?

If you run it from the Preview button in CMC, do you get the expected data?

I delete all my old recurring once I add a new one, especially since this happened the last month. (A large part of my reports are sent out once a month).

From CMC if I view my last successfull report, the data is incorrect. If I run it manually, it is correct. I don't know, maybe I did update it and omit to reschedule, but that is usually the first thing I do.

Even so though, it would be stupid that even if I save the report to CE it sends out an old report... to my knowledge, it does not keep a cache and just grabs the report file no??

Hi,
IIRC, each scheduled instance is essentially a separate copy of the report and is not modified by changes to the master version...( Could be wrong, though..not for the first time)

I am sure I rescheduled the recurring on this one. I will contact Crystal I think to find out if they can give me some insight on this.
