Hi

Just installed CE10 and CR10 on the 30 day eval license on a laptop with SQL2000. I am now receiving the error when trying to view a published report of 2 fields from northwind.
There was an error retrieving data from the server. The page server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator

Any ideas

Thanks

Jason

Check to see that all of the Crystal services are running.

If not, check the event log for errors.

Also make sure that you have IIS installed and running.

Could be other things as well...

I have noticed the same concerns. Sometimes it is restarting the services and clearing instances that helps. The cache may be full or users logged in exceeding the licence. So as synapvampire said 'Check all services and IIS'. That has worked for me most of the time.

IIS is installed and working, all the CE servers are enabled in the ccm. I have even deleted them, added them, started and enabled them. The history appears where I have scheduled work but when I try to run the file the following error occurs

There was an error retrieving data from the server. The page server you are trying to connect to is not accessible. Please contact your system administrator.

Kind regards

You can get this error when the Cache server is not running/enabled. Be sure to check that too.

Also add -trace switch to cache and page servers and review logging.

Enabled does not mean that they're running, it means that they're capable of running.

Check the Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Sevices to see what's running, and/or to try restarting.

KingFisher brings up an important point to remember, the error that returns from CE is not assuredly the correct one.

I have gone to the
Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Sevices

and all services are started automatically. Gone to test again

Got the page server error along with
unable to retrieve object

I can see enterprise 10 fully but not the files, not really a server person and do not know how to add a trace nor interprete results

Regards

Jason

Started Automatically doesn't mean the current state, that's the startup mode.

You need to determine if it's currently running, not what it does when Windows starts.

What does it say under the Status column? At any rate, try right clicking it and selecting Start, or Restart. Are all of the Crystal Services running?

Have gone to the server summary page, all servers listed

Crystal Management Server Machine Name
Comp01 alive and enabled comp01.aps

Crystal File Repository Server
Input.Comp01 alive and enabled Input.COmp01.fileserver
Intput.Comp01 alive and enabled Output.Comp01.fileserver

Crystal Page Server
Comp01.pageserver alive and enabled comp01.pageserver.pageserver

Crystal Web Component Server alive and enabled Machine Name Comp01.wcs

Crystal event Server
comp01.eventserver alive and enabled machine name comp01.eventserver.eventserver

Crystal Report Application Server
Comp01.ras alive and enabled machine name comp01.ras.rptappserver

Hi,
OK lets try this --

Start the Crystal Configuration Manager ( Not the CMC ) and
look at the status of each service ( especially the pageserver) - it should say 'running' , if not, start it, if it is running ,restart it..If it returns to the 'running' state, then look in the event log to see what, if any , messages are there regarding the pageserver service.

follow Turkbear's advice and add/start/enable a Cache server.

I had the problem and in the Configuration when I just added the server again and deleted the old one it helped. It shows the new one as 'Name of server (2)'. I deleted old one and renamed the new one. It did work. Turkbear, synapsevampire and Kingfisher know what problems I have faced-:)

Hi all in the end I set a test on a virtual machine using the following build and it worked out of the box. I found that XP Pro and service pack 2 with CE are not easily compatable. I have now wasted 4 days building a test platform. This is the order of the install.

Window2000 Server
Windows2000 Service Pack 3
.Net Framework 1.1
SQL Server 2000 (Please set up mixed mode) with log on sa and password sa
SQl Server Service Pack 3
Microsoft Office either 2000 or XP
Adobe Acrobat
Crystal Reports 10 full install
Crystal Enterprise Professional 10, New Install, No password

Kind regards
