CE10 date format

We have a date field which is a date field within CR10 but once the report is published into CE10 it turns into a datetime field!!! The date field on the table is stored as a date field!!

Why is CE turning it into a datetime field??

Help think im going mad!!

This is probably unrelated but I had some similar weirdness wiht certain fields and was only able to resolve it by forcing it to what I wanted in a formula field and displaying that instead of the field directly, kludgy but I was desperate.

My experience with date fields has been to always format the field in the desired format without a time format. This allows all the date fields or datetime fields to display in a consistent format (such as MM/dd/yyyy) regardless of the original format or the machine settings.
