Im receiving 'Failed' message in CMC when I choose different email addresses besides one company email address.

For example it comes back successful when its
person1@originalcompanyname.com.
If I use person1@alternatecompanyname.com, it will fail.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Any details in the Failed tab about what error caused the failure?

Have you tested sending to your own external email address?

It may be that the email server doesn't allow routing to external email addresses.

There also might be some unique requirements when sending outside of their domain, such as prefixing it with SMTP:myaddress@mydomain.com

Error Message:
address error.CrystalEnterprise.Smtp:SMTP_E_MAILBOX_UNAVAILABLE_2(550)

My company just bought another company 6 months ago so their company.com name is different from ours but on the same server.
Thanks in advance!

It does not email to my yahoo account.
What can I do to change this setting?

Thanks!

If you're using IIS, then you probably don't have a domain established for external email addresses. The answer might be as simple as adding and configuring a name for *.com . That being said, you should carefully review the licensing for your implementation to ensure that you don't violate your agreement with Business Objects.

Depending on your version and license structure, you may be required to purchase a Report Distribution License (RDL) if you schedule reports to email to an external address. This is an ethical license, not a technical license, but you need to be aware of it.

Speak with YOUR email server people to learn what server software they are using and request that you be able to send email via SMTP.

They may say that SMTP isn't allowed, I've had that problem before due to a poor understanding of security by the IT admins.
