I am fairly new to CE so pleaes care with me.

We just began seeing this problem after installing the latest CE service pack. When we open a Crystal Report using CE and the Java viewer, it begins to load Java (we see the coffe cup in the upper left-hand corner) and then it either stops or we get a red "X" and everything halts. Thsi opnly happen on certain workstations and is not related to the age of the computer. All workstations are running XP.

Any help is apprciated. We are at a standstill.

Check the browser settings for Java and that the VM s the same.

Also consider that the VERSION of CE is critical to errors, so at least post that info.

It turned out that the workstations using the installed Java program were having errors when those that used the IE java viewer plug-in did not. So we changed the CE workstation settings on all the workstations having this problem so that they use the plug-in and not the Java program. PROBLEM SOLVED!

Thank you agian for your help. You were right on target.

Excuse my ignorance...I am having the same problem, but cannot figure out from your posting how you solved it? Plain English?

This is how we solved the issue:

Log on to Crystal Enterprise as the user having the problem and click on "Preferences". Where it asks "View my reports using the ...", choose "Java Plug-In viewer" so that it uses the brousers Java plug-in rather than the Java loaded on the machine. You will have to do this for every user that has this problem.

Hope this helps

Hi

This still did not do the trick. I still onl;y get the 'coffee cup' and then a red X...
The problem I am trying to solve is one where the pages via CE (HTML pages) do not disply and print charts 100% like there were designed. I was hoping that generating the report in Java would have solved the issue and thus needed to test...
but as said above, your instructions still did not allow me to call a Java Viewer

Thanks,
