CE 9.0 Installation - First Attempts at Scheduling Query Engine Error

CE is newly installed on a box today. A simple report from the 7.5 server is opened in CR 9.0. Used the Save as option to "publish" it to CE.

Set up the proper defaults in the CMC for this object.

Moved over into e-Portfolio - scheduled the object to run "NOW" with the proper database logon defaults (simply verified them from the CMC input fields). Kicked off the schedule and received a failure with this message after clicking on the word failed. "Query Engine Error. File C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Enterprise 9\Data\procSched\WINDOWS01.report\~tmp5a82e86f344be0.rpt." Naturally I looked into this path to see if it existed. It does not. (Actually from what I understand this it only remains there for a short period of time?) Any thoughts on this topic out there?

Thank you - Great Days to All.

When you opened the report in the CR9 designer do you perform a Verify Database?

What is the source of your report? ODBC -> Oracle?
Although this KBase relates to CR9, given the report is running in CE, the error could be related

I have also noticed in the CCM there is a toolbar item "update objects". Maybe run this and see if the system detects something.

What account is the Job Server set to run as? Maybe change from LocalSystem to a domain/admin account to see if it is a rights issue.

Just some thoughts

Thank you; When I return to the server, I will look into your suggestions. By the way it is an
ODBC access to an Oracle 9i database.

In answer to your questions:

When processing the report in CR9, a verification of the database does happen.

The Data Source for the report is an Oracle 9i database
through a ODBC connection.
When executing the solution for the aforementioned
Kbase. Get to the direction of clicking on the "Advanced" window where there should be box with a description "Procedure returns results" as a description.
(This is a Winnt Box).

Have gone to the CCM and used the "update objects". There were no objects identified to be updated.

When you say what account is the Job Serverset to run as, I was not positive as to your meaning. After opening the CMC and locking ito the Servers selection, looked at the
default selection for the "unmanaged disc" option, then the sign-on info. Is this what you meant?.
If so I have it set to a username and password to allow access to the CE Server.

You can check the account context in teh CCM by double-clicking to see the properties of the chosen server. You will see the "Log on As.." section

You will need to stop the server to change this. By default the servers use the LocalSystem account with has no domain credentials and often is a sticking point.

Give this a go and let us know

I have been busy and have not responded, because this CE project has become primary, which means I am turning it into a real project and not just fun/filler time. I wnated to thank you for your advice. I have not yet fully acted on it but when I return to that point I will continue with your suggestions.

Thank you -

I had this same exact error in my deployment and was able to resolve it by saving the report in CR 9 format. Once I did that, the few reports in question, ran fine.

Hello; Was there anything special that you did to save them in this format? The few that I am working with had been published or saved in e-portfolio to the save to CE function. (or do I need to take each one through C.R 9.0 then execute them?) Thanks

I only saved the problem reports in CR 9 format initially. You will need to open the reports that are in CE using CR 9. Just open it, and then save it. After you save it, try viewing it again in CE.
