This started to show on the event viewer. The Crystal_WebConnector cound not be found. What causes this?

Thanks,

Steve C.

Which web server are you using ? Is it on the same server as CE ? Are you seeing any other problems or error messages ? Does the error message only appear at certain times of the day ?

I am using IIS on Windows 2000 server and it is on the same server. I noticed this error when I bounce the Crystal APS service. It take a long time for Crystal APS service to go on running state and while Crystal APS service is trying to start, I get a lot of Crystal_WebConnector could not be found error.

Thanks,

Steve C.

Hi,
Before 'bouncing' the APS ( why?) try stopping the other services and not restarting until the APS is up and running.

Excellent advise. I did not know there is a specific order.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi,
It is not always needed..
You should be able to stop the APS alone ( But any attempts to view reports during that time will fail, of course)..

Turkbear is spot on as always..you may get these error msgs on startup of the server also. To address this setup the Crystal services so that they are all dependant upon the Crystal APS service starting first. They will wait until the APS is up before trying to start.

Off the top of my head I believe you set the dependancy up via REGEDIT so tread carefully and ensure the registry is backed up before making any changes!

Hi,
In Windows you can use the services applet from the control panel to set the dependencies and failure actions...
I actually prefer a manual startup, since I can then control the order explicitly and see errors when they happen.

Thanks for the tip. I like the manual startup approach.

Thanks again,

Steve C.
