I'm pretty sure the answer to this one is NO, but I thought I'd ask...

In CE-10 you can limit the download rights on an Instance for a user, but can you also limit the format they can download it? I only want them to be able to download as EXCEL or PDF - but not in the Crystal Report format.

This needs to be rights-based (rather than just changing the CSP) since other users should be able to download in any format.

TIA for any suggestions....

Hi - you might try setting the report rights in the CMC to "Advanced", and then "Explicitly Deny" the selection "Download files associated with the report". This should allow the users to download the report in any of the formats except as a .RPT file.

RoknRole -

Thanks for the suggestion, but what I am trying to do is the exact opposite...."Explicitly Deny" the users ability to download the report as an RPT, but still allow them to download as PDF or EXCEL.

I don't think it can be done.

Try it out,

You should find that the suggested solution will solve your problem.

That is the way I have our XI server configured and I think you can do this in 10 as well.

If the user views a report/instance and then exports, they will be denied the ability to export as .rpt but can successfully choose any other format.

Malcolm.
