I have a hp 9100 cd drive and a mtrp 40x cdrom drive. I am running xp. I have had a problem with some games. I install the games and when i try to play them it asks for the cd even though the cd is in the drive. I changed it to pio only and gotten the latest drivers. Can anyone help?

Cdrw drive and windows xp

I take it you have tried the cd in both drives and the games wont run, sounds like the games protections might be kicking in, thinking u might have made a virtual cd drive image of the cd because you have 2 drives. Possibly programs can't read the protection on the cd's as if the game was a copy.
Althought used to be old problems maybe your 40x (i assume your using that to install programs) may not support unreadable sectors and the like which is used in protecion softwares.
