CDROM/DVD Firmware Update

I'm also looking at upgrading from AIX 4.3 > AIX 5.X.
All the post say "Make sure your CDROM or DVD are updated to the latest firmware."

Is there a FAQ on doing this upgrade?

Ps.. I've updated the machine firmware, but never the CDROM's firmware.

For server, select pSeries, RS/6000. For Product or Fix Type, select Hardware microcode and firmware. From the page that is presented, you can get to a list of latest microcode levels.

I too am going from 4.3->5.2 and I just did this over the weekend.

(1) lscfg -vl cd*
Examine the data that is returned.
If Part Number is 04N2964 and ROS Level and ID is less than or equal to 1_04 (for example, 1_02, 1_01, or 1_00)
then you have to update...goto:
