cdrom drive not shown in the finder window

The cdrom drive is not shown in the finder window. I checked the drive utility and it shows the cdrom drive is present. How can I made the cdrom drive visible?

You have to have a cd in it for it to be visible.

Does it show on your desktop? If it is and you mean that it doesn't show on your various windows, go to Finder menu/preferences/general and make sure that CDs is checked under "Show these Items"

Next question: Does it show up in Disk Utilities?

If the disk itself is corrupt (scratched or something) it might not show up on the desktop.

Open Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and check to see if the CD drive shows up there and, if so, if the disk shows up there.
