CDONTS in SQL Server 2000

Running SQL Server 2000 on NT4.

Generating an email using sp_OACreate 'CDONTS.NewMail' works fine when done via query analyser but does nothing when used in a stored proc. Nothing gets put in the 'pickup' folder.

How are you executing the Store Procedure - from QA, a SQL Agent Job, a DTS package, a client program? Does the execution produce an error message? Does the Stored procedure have error handling?

Do you not want to set up and use the SQL Mail agent instead?... xp_sendmail is all nice n shiney these days...
