I have a graphic given me by my sign company in a .cdl format. Is there a downloadable demo or something that can convert this to a file that photoshop can read, .eps or .jpg or something.

There is probably no download other than a full blown copy of the application itself, at least as far as I know. Your best bet would be to ask the sign company to convert the file to EPS, then you will be able to open it and you won't have quality problems inherent in a TIFF if the graphic has to be resized. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
