cde problems in hp-ux 10.20

Hi All

I have a old 715/100 running hpux 10.20 on my home lan

Its on my network and I can ping / ftp from it to the rest of the network , and from any of the other boxes I can telnet into it , so I'm happy it seems to be running ok as far as its ability to see the rest of the LAN

However since setting it up through SAM as far as the network settings go I cannot login to CDE, I get the login screen, enter any of the users I setuo and password in, it starts loading CDE, but then x seems to restart and it goes back to the login screen again.

I have some background in *nix OS's, mainly SCO Openserver and Linux, but as far as HP-UX goes I'm at a bit of a loss- any suggestions??

have you looked at the cde error log??? what does it say..that is a good starting point...let me know what it says and we can go from there..
