I have one Solaris machine that when I run Xterm on my desktop and try to log in I get the initial screen that the desktop is starting then it hangs. Is there somewhere in the solaris box that I can reset something? See my xterm software gives me the entire console desktop and the very first time I ran it, I was given the choice to select either CDE or something other then that. I don't remember exactly what it was. If anyone has a lot of experience in xterm maybe you know what I am talking about. Thank you.

On the login screen the options button will give you a choice of using cde or openwindows (on solaris 7 ) this becomes the default when you login after that.

Ok but how do you change that? Is there a file somewhere that you know of with that setting?

Log out, then when you log in again, reset the options.

I would but it doesn't ask the question anymore. The screen just hangs at the cde logging in screen. I get the username and password prompt ok, then after hitting enter for the password, it starts logging in, then hangs there forever and ever.
