CD8 causes 100% CPU usage??

Suddenly, I cannot save anything but very small files in CD8. Larger ones, when I try to save them, cause the program to freeze. When I go to Task Manager, it says there is 100% CPU usage...so nothing can operate. This is a new problem. (I have been using CD8 for several years with no problem.) Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Can you suggest what may be causing this...and what I can do to resolve it. I have tried deleting and re-installing the program twice. I am running Windows 2000 pro.

had the same problem one one of my customer's machines the other day.
Cure:
1. Empty the trash box
2. Compress old data on C:/
3. Defragment your drive containing all programs

it should then run like the clappers again

It appears my problem is different. I followed your suggestions...de-fragged...but the same condition remains. When I tried to save a fairly small file,the program froze. Task Master again said "100% CPU Usage.
