I have a server running AIX 4.3.3.
When I do lsdev -C | grep cd0, I get:
cd0 Defined 10-60-00-2,0 SCSI DVD-RAM Drive

When I try to configure the drive by typeing, mkdev -l cd0, I get:
Method error (/etc/methods/cfgsccd):
0514-047 Cannot access a device.

Can someone tell me what this means? Is this a driver issue?
Thanks.

cfgmgr can see the cd or it wouldn't create the device file and make it defined. It can't talk to it.
It might be that your drivers aren't the right level or aren't there at all.

If this is on an LPAR, was the CD assigned to a different LPAR previously?
