I have an LG CD-RW and its acting weird. I put in a CD, and it starts spinning and it keeps spinning for around 20 seconds during which time the computer "locks up" then after it dies down I try to go into the drive and then the same thing happens. I have the DMA enabled what else could be wrong? Is it just a crappy CD-RW?

You might have read-ahead enabled.

When you put a cd in the drive, the computer searches for an autorun program(s). Go to the device manager and disable read-ahead. what operating system are you using?

In Windows 98, this would be the "auto insert notification"...turn this off and you should be fine.
