Dear L.S.,

I seem to have a strange problem. I have had to format my OS partition, because I had a lot of chrashes each day. I have installed Win98SE (AMD athlon 1700+, AKA 77 mobo) and some other programs. The strange thing is that my computer does recognize my CD-RW (Aopen CD-RW 2440), but not as a CD-RW but as CD-ROM only! I have updated the firmware and there is no driver existing... Do you no what is happening and how I can solve this?

Thanks a lot,

Koos

What name is given to the device in Device Manager? Are you sure Windows is having the problem seeing it as a burner, or is the software? What software are you using?

Remember, the firmware built-into the burner provides Windows with the driver information. The correct driver is used internally from the firmware.
