cd-rw does not recognize cd

I have to write applications to Farm Service Agency,
I send a hard copy and email the file also. I put the
file on a floppy then right click and click on send to
mail recepient. the "send to" has the option to send to
my optorite cd-rw and I would like to do that, but the
cd-rw keeps saying insert disk and I have a disk in there.
I tried copy and paste but can't seem to write to that drive. No problem in reading a cd or writing to one from
itunes or my backup program. Thanks

What "burning" software are you using? There's a special program (built in) to format the CD to use as a "drag and drop" (big floppy) medium.

What OS are you running? How old is the cd drive?

Did you try running the burning software to write the problem files to a CD?

I am using windows2000 Professional
the cd burner is a year old. yes I tried running
the burning software, but somwhere I am missing a
step. Thank you
