I have a customer who was installing a new CD-DVD burner. He has Windows 2000 Pro. After he did the Roxio installation, all his CD-ROMs (The DVD burner and a 56K generic) were not available and have yellow flags in the Device Manager. We have uninstalled them and let Win reinstall them. No change, they always come up the same. Bios is finding them correctly. We also found a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that directly addresses this issue with a registry patch that is run after removing the associated registry entries. We did the registry editing, finding all exactly as in the article. Then we ran the fix and on restart, all was still the same, yellow flags. I ran the Win 2000 repair tool and it still is the same. We are considering just upgrading to Win XP but wondered if anyone else has had this presistant problem, found any solutions, and the consensus about whether or not the XP upgrade will indeed fix the problem?

Regards,
Floyd

Roxio Easy CD has some compatibility issues with Win XP. It may be similar with NT, since the operating system are much the same. They set something in the Registry that has to be deleted. When you uninstall it neither CDROM will work. Microsoft had some instructions to fix this.

I had some more problems with my sons 2 CDROM drives. After uninstalling Easy CD software neither CDROM showed up in "My Computer".

However, both CDROM and CDRW were both in the Device Driver Menu showing yellow!!!

So I look at the CD and it says Error Code 39 .... Driver could not load or is corrupted. What this is suppose to mean i do not know!

So I go to the Troubleshooter. I enter the Error Code 39 message and it brings up a registry hack that solves the problem.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

Hiighlight LowerFilters Edit Delete
Highlight UpperFilters Edit Delete

Reboot and everythiing works fine.

Let us know if this helps. This is for XP You may find a link for something similar for NT.

Hi,

i've got the same problem. After having installed my new DVD-Burner LG GSA4040B the yellow exclamation mark shows up.
(Despite i haven't installed Roxio Easy CD Creator)

I tried the registry-hack above, but it didn't work.
Any ideas ?
Thanx in advance.
