CD ROM search in Director

I have been asked to produce a CR ROM which will include a director projector, and a large number of other files (pdf, word docs, html etc) The client would like to be add a word search of these other files.

Is this possible in Dirctor?

Also, they would like to be able to regularly update these files themselves, so it might have to be a search engine that runs each time rather than creating an index file before the CD is written

Any suggestions would be helpful

Director can import Word RTF files and HTML files as text cast. Once imported you can create search facility using Lingo, or using Xtra such as textCruncher (

or pRegEx (

As for PDF, use PDF Xtra (

http://www.integrationnewmedia.com/products/pdfdirector/)

to import and display. You can perform a search using Acrobat toolbar, or by using PDF Indexer and V12 database.
