cd rom not working 1

hi,
I have compaq deskpro computer my cd is working . i can see it under my computer but when i try to run any cd it dont work. it makes some noice while reading a cd and the light blinks for a while then stops. This is how no cd is read. What should i do? should i replace the cd rom?

Have you tried running a cleaning disk over it?
Also can you play an audio CD (I presume the disk you tried was a CD-ROM)?
Can you boot to DOS with drivers and do a DIR of the drive?

I tired playing audio cd its not working and tried running in dos mode too but dont work.
havent tried cleaning disk
it says d: is not accessiable , the device is not ready.
what should i try now

Looks like it's time to junk that drive.

Yeah, don't waste any more time with it, at under £20 for a new one they really are disposable now!
