I have a user that is running W2K pro. For some reason the cd-rom will not work when certain discs are used. For instance when Publisher is placed in the cd-rom for an instal, there is a message saying, "Please insert a disk". I have given the user administrative rights, and also have changed the the registry value of 0 to 1 for the AllocateCDRom key. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This has happend to me also on some machines.
Just for clarity, did you do the following:

1. Check Drivers
2. Check system messages using Computer Management?
3. Check to see if the drive was broken <- this was my problem -God Bless

does it work with some CDs and doesn't work with anothers ? Mohamed Farid

Other types of media work in the drive. Music cd's have no trouble.

Music Cd's only .. ?
The Music is working through a small cable between the CD and the Sound Card Directly ..
so you can't depend on it .. Mohamed Farid
