Hi

Recently whenever I run an autostarting CD Rom in my combo cd r/w/dvd drive the floppy drive hunts/spins as though it is trying to be accessed as well as the CD. As a result the CD roms tend to fail to work. It's as if there's a path problem somewhere? The OS is XP.

Any ideas? Thanks muchly. RW

It is your antivirus software. See if you can configure it to not scan all removable drives on a file open, but only the specific drive.

Many thanks. If I disable the antivirus software (Norton) the problem disappears. Now I just have to find a way to start it up with the /L switch to look at local drives minus A and B. I think that might sort it out.

Thanks again.

Edited the registry entry for the startup of NAVW32.exe and voila! Problem fixed.

Top advice. Again many thanks. RW
