Hello,

I am installing SCO Enterprise System Release 5.0.2 on a HP Proliant ML series server, and also on HP Evo personal computer. But after selecting the media instalation I receive the following message:

"Error initializing access to device /tmp/cdrom"

Them, the installation process stop.

In both case I use OSS451B and OSS478A for the "wd" driver.

When install on the server the cdrom is in the primery ide controller, and is the master device so i identify as:

host adapater: 0
scsi id: 0
scsi lun: 0
scsi bus: 0

When install on the pc the cdrom is in the secondary ide controller, and is the master device so i identify as:

host adapater: 1
scsi id: 0
scsi lun: 0
scsi bus: 0

Also i try with parameter wd.udma=off

On the pc BIOS I have try with:

Translation Mode:
- off
- bit shift
- lba assisted
- user defined

Transfer mode:
- enhanced dma
- ultra dma 0
- max udma
- pio 0
- max pio

What else can i do?

Whey are you defining SCSI addresses for IDE drives? Or is that the way SCO OpenServer sees IDE (I've only ever installed on SCSI-only systems).

Annihilannic.

Anni , SCO treats the ide interface as scsi type wd.

Rav71, what model EXACTLY of proliant are you trying to install on? 5.0.2 will not work on a P4.

The Proliant Server is a ML370 Xeon 2.4 Ghz server.

I use the following boot strings:

defbootstr link="clad wd" hd=Sdsk Srom=(0,0,0)

where "clad" is the driver for the array controller in the server.

Why can install SCO 5.0.2 in P4 machine?
