For some reason my cd-rom drives are not displayed under my computer. If I put a cd in it won't run. I have a cd-burner and a cd-player.Previously it displayed an F:\ drive and a E:\ drive. Not anymore! How do I fix this.

Also in the controll panel the game controller icon has disappered and I don't know how to access these options. Please help.

Thanx

Are both the CD drives attached to the secondary IDE controller (ie 1 master, the other slave)? Does the Device Manager show any problems or conflicts with the Secondary IDE Channel or any other hardware? Have you recently added any new hardware? Is the ribbon cable secure? Sorry, more questions than answers.

If you go to "Control Panel -> System -> Performance", does it tell you that "some drives are using MS-DOS compatibility"? If so, then part of your problem might be the hard drive controller in Device Manager. See if that's flagged before you assume it's a CDROM drive problem.

If that's the case, then check out this thread:

First check to see if BIOS sees your two cdroms.
Regarding the game controller, if it is onboard, check in BIOS to see if it is was disabled.
If these fail, check loose connections, and then move to diagnostics (control panel) in Windows as these other gentlemen have indicated.
Good luck.
