CD-ROM drive issues? Door stuck! 2

Could anyone tell me where to find a good troubleshooting guide for CD-ROM drives? I'm having trouble with mine, the door does not seem to want to close on it's own, perhaps something is stuck or gears have become misaligned.

Any help would be appreciated.

its a bit expensive but you might Try REPAIR AND TROUBLESHOOTING PC's 14th Edition from QUE Publications.. its more or less a hardware bible.

I charge about $40/hr to troubleshoot PCs... a new CDROM drive is usually less than that... might be a good investment (for me) to get the book, swap out the "bad drive", take it home, and try to fix it in my spare time...
