CD-R problem

Is there any software that will recover files from a damaged cdr.I'm using adaptec software to write to my cd's and now it shows one of my cd's to be empty and I konw there are over 1000 files on it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try it in a different CD player. It could be yours just won't read THAT cd anymore. Cheers,

I tried it in my cd-rom drive, the error I get is that device is not ready.
