Hi,
Recently a computer repairs place formatted hard drive of my laptop and now when I try to play a cd I get no sound and when i try to open volume control from view menu in cd player it throws up the following error.

There are no active mixer devices available you may install or activate mixer device from the control panel.

How can I activate it install it? Please help!

Jus a suggestion

You may have to install it from your windows CD, im sure there is a section under "Multimedia" that deals with the sound mixer, go to add windows components

Good luck

If you go to my computer/control panel, in here there should be a section called "Add/Remove software". Go here and select the tab for windows components which is where you should find any sound/multimedia options.

Alternatively if they were supposed to put it back in working order get the repair shop to do it for you ;)
