I work for a company who are currently Auditing all the computer systems. Part of the job i need to do is to get the windows CD Keys for all the computers to make sure they are correctly liscensed. If there any way that i can do this remotely ? Its not a huge company but will take me quite some time to go round every computer and look at the sticker on the side of it

Not without 3rd party software as far as I know. The one we use in our company is TrackIT, though I have heard of better. It audits every bit of software, not just the windows versions. I think you'll find that even if several machines have the same CD key (perhaps through ghosting), as long as the license sticker is on the PC, or you have the original printed out EULA for each machine filed, you should be okay.

All of our computers have got liscenses for them, we just need to be 100% sure that they are running the windows version they are liscensed for. The program you mentioned TrackIT does it show up what the original product key is ? If not does anyone know any other 3rd party software that will let me do this remotely ?

I've just tried magical jelly bean and it does come back with a cd key... but its totally wrong. Works fine on my computer but as soon as i do remote retrieval it seems to make up product keys. Any other programs i can try ?

Dont worry about this anymore... Magic Jelly Bean is working. It seems that the computer i was scanning wasn't using the correct CD key. Thanks bcastner for your help, you to willshakespeare

Jelly Bean works fine retrieving remote keys for me (have tried XP & 2k so far). How do you know they're wrong?
